US ‘Clearing’ Strait Of Hormuz, Says Trump

11/04/2026 10:19 PM

WASHINGTON, April 11 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- The US has begun operations to clear the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route, US President Donald Trump said on Saturday, Anadolu Ajansi reported.

"We’re now starting the process of clearing the Strait of Hormuz as a favour to countries all over the world, including China, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany and many others," Trump said on Truth Social.

He asserted that sea mines were the only threat remaining for vessels transiting the strait, adding that all 28 of Iran's mine-laying vessels were "lying at the bottom of the sea."

Trump's remarks came as US and Iranian delegations were holding Pakistan-mediated talks in Islamabad, aimed at ending the broader regional conflict amid a fragile two-week ceasefire brokered earlier this week.
