ISLAMABAD, April 12 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- The Iranian delegation has departed Islamabad for Tehran after high-stakes talks with the US concluded without an agreement, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported, citing Iran’s state-run Press TV.
The delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and accompanied by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, among others, left Pakistan following intensive negotiations.
The talks, held under the framework of “Islamabad Talks,” were hosted and mediated by Pakistan as part of efforts to permanently end the US-Israeli war on Iran that began on Feb 28.
Pakistan also mediated a two-week ceasefire earlier this week.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the negotiations ended, urging both sides to uphold their commitment to the ceasefire.
He expressed hope that Washington and Tehran would continue engagement in a “positive spirit” to achieve durable peace and stability in the region.
Dar said Pakistan will continue to play its role to facilitate engagement and dialogue between Iran and the US "in the days to come."
The US delegation was led by Vice President JD Vance and also included Jared Kushner.
The talks included multiple rounds of direct and indirect discussions facilitated by senior Pakistani officials, including army chief Asim Munir.
Vance also departed Islamabad and was seen off by Pakistani officials at the airport.
