UMT Earns Recognition In Talentbank Graduate Employability Index 2026

KUALA NERUS, April 12 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has once again been recognised as one of the nation’s leading institutions for graduate employability in the Talentbank Graduate Employability Index 2026, a national benchmark assessed by industry employers in Malaysia.

In a statement, UMT said the recognition reflects employers’ strong confidence in the quality of its graduates, particularly in terms of job readiness, professional competence and actual work performance.

“The assessment also considers employers’ tendency to continue hiring graduates from the same university, making it a strong indicator of the reliability and added value of UMT graduates in the job market,” the statement said.

UMT also recorded a significant achievement when two of its key fields, Agriculture and Analytics, received the prestigious Talentbank 6-Star Employers’ Choice Award.

Both fields were ranked among the best in the country based on evaluations by more than 1,200 employers across various sectors, including multinational companies, government-linked companies (GLCs) and major industry players.

UMT said it continues to strengthen its graduate employability agenda through focused strategic efforts led by the Centre for Graduate Entrepreneurship and Employability (UMT-GEM).

Meanwhile, vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Zamri Ibrahim said the achievement reflects the collective efforts of the university community to ensure graduates are not only academically strong but also equipped with skills aligned with current industry needs.

“This recognition shows that UMT’s approach, based on experiential learning, close industry collaboration and emphasis on future-ready skills, is on the right track,” he said.

He added that UMT will continue to enhance collaboration with industry through high-impact initiatives to ensure its graduates remain relevant, adaptable and capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.

He said the collaboration with Talentbank also opens up broader strategic networking opportunities, bringing together leading organisations within a dynamic ecosystem that not only expands career placement opportunities but also strengthens structured and impactful talent development.

He added that the achievement will spur UMT to strengthen graduate employability and student entrepreneurship more strategically and proactively.
