PUTRAJAYA, April 14 (Bernama) -- Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan has called on Malaysians to show solidarity and pray for the success of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 mission, which has begun its voyage to Gaza.

He said the mission involved participation from individuals worldwide, including representatives from Malaysia, making it a significant global effort.

“I would like to invite Malaysians to focus on showing solidarity. They are currently undertaking this mission, and we pray for their safe journey and return, and that the mission succeeds. We pray that everything will be eased.

“This time it is a very universal mission, involving many participants from around the world, and we are grateful that Malaysians are also involved,” he told reporters after attending Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia’s (YAPEIM) national-level Aidilfitri contribution presentation ceremony here today.

The GSF 2.0 mission set sail from the Port of Barcelona to Gaza at about 1 pm local time (7 pm Malaysian time) on April 12.

GSF 2.0 brings together an international coalition committed to breaking the blockade on Gaza in response to the worsening humanitarian crisis in the territory.

The mission involves more than 80 vessels with the participation of about 1,000 individuals, encompassing maritime efforts and ground support movements, including legal advocacy and solidarity campaigns in various countries.

Meanwhile, the event saw YAPEIM channel contributions amounting to RM3.1 million, benefiting 29,100 recipients comprising students and those in need.

At the same event, YAPEIM also launched the Keep Malaysia Clean-YAPEIM (KMC-YAPEIM) campaign, an initiative under the ‘Keep Malaysia Clean’ (KMC) programme launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 1, 2025.

YAPEIM has been selected as the pioneer to implement the KMC initiative, representing religious agencies to enhance awareness among employees and the public on the culture of cleanliness, integrity and harmony.
