KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM) has reappointed Lt Gen (Rtd) Datuk Ahmad Norihan Jalal as its chairman, effective yesterday.
SKM said in a statement that the appointment is expected to strengthen its role as the leading body in developing the national cooperative movement, in line with the government’s aspiration to empower the sector as a driver of inclusive, sustainable and competitive economic growth.
“This appointment also reflects SKM’s continued commitment to ensuring that the cooperative development agenda is driven strategically, progressively and in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI,” the statement said.
It said SKM leadership will continue efforts to strengthen governance, enhance service delivery efficiency and expand the impact of the cooperative movement to the people.
“SKM also expressed confidence that the cooperative movement under Ahmad Norihan’s leadership will continue to grow, remain resilient and be able to contribute significantly to the nation’s socioeconomic development,” it added.
