PKR Youth Cohesion Key To Party’s Long-term Struggle - Amirudin

19/04/2026 05:14 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) must give serious attention to efforts to strengthen cohesion and reinforce its youth wing, Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK), to ensure the party’s continuity in the future.

PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said strengthening the youth wing was among three key motions discussed at the 2026 Gombak Division Annual General Meeting today, to be brought to the central leadership level.

“On the cohesion and strengthening of AMK, that is indeed our objective and will be implemented continuously,” he said after attending the meeting today.

Amirudin said another motion consistently advocated was increasing women’s participation in the party’s leadership structure.

“So far, women’s participation stands at around 23 to 24 per cent. There has been an improvement, and we will continue efforts to meet the 30 per cent target,” he said.

As for the third motion, he stressed the importance of addressing cases of sexual abuse occurring in care homes, which would be translated through the Care Economy Policy introduced last year.

Amirudin, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, described the three motions as important as they demonstrated that PKR not only discussed internal party matters but also addressed broader public welfare issues.
