FKW Application Processing Issues To Be Resolved As Soon As Possible - Gobind

GEORGE TOWN, April 19 (Bernama) -- The Digital Ministry has reviewed all complaints related to issues in the processing of Foreign Knowledge Worker (FKW) applications and expects them to be resolved in the near future, says Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

He said the matter was brought to his attention about a month ago and a team from the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) had conducted a detailed review of the issues raised.

Gobind said the ministry had also engaged with industry players and worked with the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), which was also involved in managing the matter, noting that a total of 3,100 complaints had been recorded as of Friday.

“As is known, the matter is also handled by KDN, so we have scrutinised every complaint submitted, and I have brought it to the Cabinet level.

“The solution has already been determined, but we are awaiting several further details from KDN. I hope it can be resolved this week and I can inform the Cabinet… if not this week, then by next week at the latest,” he told reporters here today.

Gobind was met after launching the Digitalisation of Management Systems at temples under the Penang Hindu Endowments Board (LWHPP) at the Sri Kunj Bihari Temple here today. Also present was LWHPP chairman RSN Rayer.

On March 29, industry players were reported to have raised concerns over the latest revisions to FKW application guidelines and processing timelines.

Meanwhile, Gobind said the Digital Ministry hoped more places of worship nationwide would adopt digitalisation to facilitate matters for devotees, including payment transactions and online booking for rituals.

He said the initiative, introduced by the ministry more than a year ago, aimed to help temple and shrine committees improve management and enhance operational efficiency.

“Through digitalisation, devotees no longer need to be physically present at places of worship to make payments or preparations for prayer rituals. This not only saves time but also eases the burden on devotees as the process becomes more organised, while account management can also be handled more meticulously,” he said.

He added that the response to the initiative had been very encouraging, with many places of worship nationwide already beginning digitalisation efforts.
