CHUKAI, April 19 (Bernama) -- University College TATI (UCTATI) will use its participation in the 2026 Formula Student Malaysia to prove its capabilities in automotive engineering when the race takes place at Dato’ Sagor Circuit, Perak this Wednesday and Thursday.
TATI UC Rector Prof Ir Dr Hairul Azhar Abdul Rashid said the university college’s team, UCTATI Racing Team (UTRT) will race Red Shark and Blue Shark, two machines fully developed by students in various disciplines.
“Both machines are symbols of the students’ technical capaiblities combining elements of design, aerodynamic anaylsis, fabrication, installation and performance testing in a real development ecosystem.
"The hands-on engineering approach is in line with the current industry demands of integration between engineering, innovation and entrepreneurship, and will improve the Technical and Vocational Education and Training graduates’ marketability,” he said in a statement today.
According to Hairul Azhar, UTRT is not unknown in the arena of student racing, having won at several tracks including Melaka International Motorsport Circuit (MIMC), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Sepang International Circuit (SIC) dan Kuantan.
"For 2026, Red Shark is led by Muhammad Adam Alif Muhammad Zani and Che Hanif Haikal Che Mat as driver, while Blue Shark is led by Muhammad Redaniel Haqim Redzuan with driver Eizzedin Afkar Azil Hizaq,” he said, adding that both teams include students from various fields, including manufacturing, automotive, mechatronics, chemistry, business management and computer science.
The 2026 Formula Student Malaysia is a continuation of the Education Innovation and Automotive Race (EIMARace), and will restart the engineering talent development platform that ended about a decade ago, he added.
