Moderate Earthquake Hits North Maluku Sea In Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 (Bernama) -- A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale was detected in the North Maluku Sea, Indonesia, at 12.45 pm today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said in a statement that the earthquake was reported to have occurred 120 km east of Bitung, Indonesia, at a depth of 10 km.

However, a preliminary assessment showed that the earthquake did not cause a tsunami threat to Malaysia.
