Selangor To Announce Initiatives Supporting Manufacturing And Services Subsectors

SHAH ALAM, April 28 (Bernama) -- The Selangor state government will launch several new initiatives to help strengthen the two main subsectors of the state, namely manufacturing and services, in facing the impact of the current global supply crisis, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari told the Selangor State Assembly today.

Amirudin said the initiatives will be formulated to enhance industrial competitiveness and stimulate the state’s economic growth.

He said the measure is also a continuation of the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package announced earlier, which focuses on the cost of living, inflation, and the protection of vulnerable groups.

“Next, (after the launch of the package) we will try to sustain the two main subsectors in Selangor, namely services and manufacturing, which we must defend together. Insya-Allah, next month (the initiative will be announced).

“Invest Selangor Bhd has held discussions, and we will launch several initiatives to ensure these industries can be sustained,” he said during the winding-up session of the Motion of Thanks and Appreciation of the Speech of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, at the Selangor State Assembly today.

Amirudin said that the continuity of industrial operations is vital to ensure that the people continue to have job opportunities and stable sources of income.

“When this industry continues operating, the people will have job opportunities and income. This is what I always mention, we need to maintain a dignified economy,” he said.

For that purpose, Amirudin said the state government welcomes suggestions from all representatives to further strengthen existing initiatives and ensure the implementation of more effective measures to address the current economic challenges.

Previously, the menteri besar was reported to have said that Invest Selangor would hold engagement sessions with key sectors such as services and construction as part of efforts to strengthen economic resilience under the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package Phase 2.

Amirudin announced the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package as a state government initiative to bolster economic resilience in the face of global uncertainty.

The package focuses on immediate support measures, including targeted assistance to people and the strengthening of local economic activities and involves coordinating various agencies to ensure the effectiveness of interventions and direct impact on the target groups in Selangor.
