KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has assured that tight security measures will be in place at the Rain Rave 2026 Water Music Festival.
Its minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the police and enforcement agencies will be closely monitoring public order at the event venue and will not compromise on any unlawful behaviour.
“We are organising this programme for the people, so the safety of tourists and local visitors is assured,” he told reporters after officiating the launch of the Rain Rave 2026 Water Music Festival at Pavilion Bukit Bintang here today.
Earlier, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said 500 officers and personnel, including support from Bukit Aman and all district police headquarters (IPDs) in Kuala Lumpur, have been deployed to various strategic locations to maintain public order and ensure the smooth running of the festival.
Tiong said the event, held in conjunction with the Workers’ Day celebration, is a strategic government effort to drive the local economy, particularly in supporting the business sustainability of the B40 group.
He said such programmes not only provide recreational opportunities for the public but also serve to promote the uniqueness of local food and cultural performances to foreign tourists.
“If we do not organise such programmes, tourists will not come and the B40 group will not be able to do business. How can we boost the economy? Where programmes are needed, we will carry them out to stabilise the economy,” he said.
On the impact of the global supply crisis, Tiong said the country’s tourism sector remains on a strong trajectory.
He said although there has been a slight decline in tourist arrivals from West Asia, the overall international arrivals to Malaysia continue to rise, driven by increased arrivals from ASEAN countries and Europe.
