PUTRAJAYA, May 2 (Bernama) -- Former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli will be called to give his statement this Monday over allegations of abuse of power and misappropriation involving an RM1.1 billion investment deal.

The case concerns a strategic partnership agreement in the semiconductor industry between the Ministry of Economy and ARM Limited, a UK-based company.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) senior director of Investigations, Datuk Mohd Hafaz Nazar, confirmed that Rafizi is scheduled to appear at MACC headquarters at 10 am to assist in the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009, which addresses the misuse of position or authority for gratification.

"To date, 22 statements have been recorded since the investigation began on Feb 13, 2025, including from ministers and senior officials of several government agencies," he said in a statement today.

He added that this week, MACC had recorded a statement from Rafizi's former assistant, Chai Jin Shern, also known as James Chai, for three consecutive days beginning Tuesday.
