Super League: Sabah Thrash PDRM 5-1

KOTA KINABALU, May 2 (Bernama) -- Sabah FC ran riot with goals as they defeated PDRM FC 5–1 in a Super League match at Likas Stadium here tonight.

Sabah opened the scoring through Fergus Tierney in the 17th minute, igniting the atmosphere among the home supporters in attendance.

The goal clearly boosted The Rhinos’ momentum, as Kervens Fils Belfort doubled the lead in the 41st minute, before Duje Ljubic capped off the first half with a goal in stoppage time to give Sabah a 3-0 advantage.

In the second half, PDRM tightened their gameplay and increased pressure on the Sabah defence.

Their efforts paid off when the visitors pulled one back through Mohamad Aiman Sufi Radzai in the 51st minute. However, Sabah widened their lead six minutes later through Darren Lok.

Fergus completed Sabah’s brilliant night with a late goal to seal the emphatic victory.

In Iskandar Puteri, another goal fest took place at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium as Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) thrashed Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC 7-0.

The Southern Tigers’ scoring spree began in the 17th minute through Ager Aketxe Barrutia, who converted a penalty.

The hosts doubled their lead in the 34th minute via a low strike from Oscar Arribas after receiving a pass from Matthew Davies inside the penalty box.

KL City, who struggled throughout the first half, nearly reduced the deficit through a long-range effort by Mohamad Kamal Azizi Mohamad Zabri in the 43rd minute, but the shot sailed high.

In the second half, the visitors came under further pressure as they were reduced to 10 men after Dmytro Lytvyn was shown the red card in the 51st minute for bringing down Arribas.

JDT exploited the situation with relentless attacks as Stuart Wilkin scored the third goal in the 72nd minute from a pass by Yago da Silva, before Alberto Martín added the fourth four minutes later.

Ajdin Mujagic struck the fifth in the 82nd minute, followed by a header from Eddy Silvestre Pascual Israfilov for the sixth goal from a Yago corner. 

Manuel Federico Hidalgo Gasparini completed the emphatic win with the seventh goal in stoppage time.

In Petaling Jaya, Selangor reclaimed second place in the league after defeating Penang FC 4-0 at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium.

The Red Giants started aggressively, scoring three first-half goals through Chrihor Moraes in the 11th minute, Hugo Boumous (15th min) and Harith Haiqal Adam Afkar (21st min).

In the second half, Alvin Fortes added a goal in the 62nd minute to give Selangor a convincing win.
