KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 (Bernama) -- Media organisations have been urged to apply for the RM30 million Media Innovation Fund, now entering its fifth phase, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said.
She said applications for the latest phase are open from May 1 to 14, with each organisation eligible to apply for up to RM300,000 covering four key areas: workforce training, software and technology adoption, equipment, and strengthening support facilities and content.
To date, 34 media organisations have been approved for funding totalling RM12.38 million under the first phase, while applications for phases two to four are still under review.
“So, I urge media organisations that have yet to apply to seize this opportunity. This is already the fifth phase, and if the fund is fully utilised, there may not be a sixth or seventh phase this year,” she told reporters after the closing ceremony of a course on artificial intelligence (AI), online safety and media reporting ethics, here today.
Also present were Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute (IPPTAR) director Datuk Roslan Ariffin and head of Academic Division Mohammad Yusari Ameer Mohd Yusof, as well as Malaysian Media Council board member Teh Athira Yusof.
