IPOH, May 7 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, has consented to honour youths by allowing them to deliver the Friday sermon in mosques across the state tomorrow, in conjunction with the National Youth Day celebration on May 15.
Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) president Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini said Sultan Nazrin issued the decree in appreciation and recognition of the important role played by youth in the nation.
He added that His Highness also decreed that the Friday sermon in Perak tomorrow would be youth-themed "Belia: Tenaga Penggerak Kemajuan Negara" (Youth: The Driving Force of National Progress).
“The Perak State Youth and Sports Department has submitted 94 names of youth leaders who have received the consent of the Sultan of Perak to deliver the sermon at mosques and suraus for Friday prayers in Perak on May 8, 2026,” he said in a statement today.
The youth leaders involved in tomorrow’s Friday sermon are from organisations such as the Islamic Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM), District Youth Councils, Rakan Muda clubs and other youth clubs.
