Man Found Dead, Teen Feared Drowned In Kota Belud

KOTA BELUD, May 16 (Bernama) -- A man was found dead while a teenager is feared drowned after they were reported missing in a river near a campsite in Melangkap Baru here this morning.

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, in a statement, said it received information on the incident at 9.26 am before victim Zul Hakim Abdullah, 23, was found at 10.18 am.

“The victim was found along the riverbank about 300 metres from the location where he was reported missing and was pronounced dead by a Ministry of Health medical officer. The body was handed over to the police for further action,” it said.

The statement said the search and rescue (SAR) operation for the teenager, identified as Daniel Abdullah, 18, is actively ongoing. 

The search is focused along the riverbank using surface water search methods within a one-kilometre radius from the location of the incident.
