KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 (Bernama) -- Local actress Nadia Brian’s presence at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium tonight was not merely to enliven the atmosphere, as she boldly predicted a convincing 4-0 victory for Johor Darul Ta'zim FC (JDT) in tonight’s 2025-2026 Malaysia Cup final against Kuching City FC.
Nadia described the highly anticipated clash as one of the best platforms for uniting Malaysians, beyond the boundaries of support for their respective clubs, as football possesses a unique quality that is capable of bringing fans together in a spirit of harmony and togetherness.
“Today is the day all Malaysians have been waiting for because football truly unites us, not only in Malaysia but throughout the world.
“So tonight everyone is very excited to witness the clash between JDT and Kuching City FC,” she said when met at the grounds of the stadium here.
She also reminded supporters filling the stadium to remain disciplined and avoid excessive provocation in order to preserve the image of the nation’s sports scene.
“My hope for tonight is that we do not fight because we are all one as Malaysians. We just need to enjoy ourselves and enjoy the match. Winning or losing is part and parcel of competition,” she said.
Apart from celebrities, the excitement of this year’s final was also felt through the presence of large groups of supporters from the southern region, including Tuminah Maskan, 51, who was willing to travel a long distance to support her favourite team.
Tuminah joined a convoy of three buses carrying supporters from various districts in Johor including Muar, Segamat, Kota Tinggi, Masai and Batu Pahat, with each bus carrying its full capacity of 48 passengers.
“If a final involves JDT, we will definitely go. I became a loyal supporter since the final against Selangor FC in 2017, and since then I have never missed the opportunity to attend the stadium whenever the team plays in a final.
“There’s no such thing as getting tired of it. We must give encouragement to the team so they do not give other teams a chance to win,” she said jokingly.
