Malaysian Army Sacrifices 18 Cows At Perdana Qurban Ceremony

28/05/2026 11:44 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Army sacrificed 18 cows during its 2026 Perdana Qurban ceremony at Kem Perdana Sungai Besi today.

Deputy Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Datuk Mohamad Suria Mohamad Saad, said this year's programme involved 18 cows.

This number includes 11 cows from the qurban offering and participation of Malaysian Army personnel, plus an additional 7 cows contributed by strategic partners and external parties, who were also present at the event today.

He explained that this annual programme not only demonstrates the army's commitment to the sacrificial rite for Aidiladha but also serves as a means to foster brotherhood and a spirit of mutual cooperation among military personnel.

“This programme also helps to strengthen ties among members, regardless of rank, whether senior officers or junior soldiers,” he said after the event.

The ceremony began at 8 am at the Parade Ground of the Central Band of the Royal Malay Regiment (PP RAMD), Kem Perdana Sungai Besi, attended by about 500 officers and personnel.

Similar programmes were held at army camps nationwide from yesterday to today as part of the Aidiladha celebrations.

He added that the sacrificial meat would be packed and distributed to the personnel involved and to those in need.

He also expressed appreciation to army personnel stationed at the nation's borders and on islands who could not celebrate Aidiladha with their families.

"I wish a happy Aidiladha to our field personnel. Continue to serve honestly and sincerely to keep our country safe and to ensure any threats are contained at the earliest possible stage," he said.
