KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 (Bernama) -- The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) has continued to demonstrate its role as one of the key catalysts in the development of the nation's creative industry ecosystem throughout its 45 years of establishment.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said that during that period, FINAS had played an important role in developing the country's film and creative industries, including nurturing talent, empowering local productions and creating more opportunities for industry players.
“Despite facing an increasingly challenging digital era, FINAS remains crucial in ensuring that Malaysia’s film, animation and creative content industries remain competitive and capable of penetrating global markets,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Fahmi said efforts to strengthen the welfare and protection of members of the creative industry would continue to be a government priority to ensure the sustainability of the national film sector in facing the challenges of the digital age.
He also expressed appreciation to all creative industry players for their continued contributions towards enhancing industry standards across the entire value chain.
“Thank you to all industry players and movers for your services and commitment. May FINAS continue to excel in driving Malaysia’s film industry to even greater heights,” he said.
Officially established on June 1, 1981, FINAS, the country’s principal agency for the development of the film industry, celebrates its 45th anniversary today.
Meanwhile, Fahmi also extended his congratulations to TV3 on its 42nd anniversary, describing it as one of the television stations that has significantly shaped the nation’s broadcasting landscape since it began operations on June 1, 1984.
He said that for more than four decades, TV3 has consistently delivered news, entertainment and a wide range of content that resonates with the public.
“Congratulations to all TV3 staff for their dedication and commitment,” he said.
