KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today stressed that the decision to dissolve a state legislative assembly rests with the respective state government.
However, he said the federal government remains focused on carrying out its responsibilities and delivering on its agenda.
“I’m focusing on my job. The problem is some of these people don’t think of this. We should focus on the job.
“That’s their decision. We have our priorities, we have to focus on our work,” he told reporters after officiating the Energy Transition Conference 2026 (ETCon26) here today.
Anwar was responding to a question on whether potential state elections would disrupt the administration’s focus.
Johor dissolved its state legislative assembly on June 1, paving the way for an election to be held within 60 days.
In May, Anwar said he would consider calling a snap general election if tensions within the ruling coalition worsened. The next general election is due next year.
