KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- Environmental sustainability must be given serious attention to ensure the safety and food security of the country for future generations, said Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
In a Facebook post, he said the people must play a collective role in addressing the current challenges posed by climate change.
“Climate change is no longer a future issue, but a challenge we are facing today.
“As Malaysians, we all have a role in preserving the environment through small actions that have a big impact — reducing waste, maintaining cleanliness, planting trees and using resources wisely,” he said.
He said this in conjunction with World Environment Day, which is themed “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future", today.
He also called on the public to foster environmental awareness and take action to ensure the earth remains green, sustainable and prosperous.
“One world. One action. One hope,” he said.
