KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has congratulated Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and Goh Sze Fei for winning the men’s doubles title in the Indonesia Open Badminton Championships at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, today.
He praised them for ending Malaysia’s 18-year drought for the men’s doubles crown in the championships.
“Thank you for your extraordinary fighting spirit in ending Malaysia’s 18-year wait to once again lift the Indonesia Open men’s doubles title and make the nation proud.
“All Malaysians are always behind you two,” he posted on Facebook.
World No 8 Nur Izzuddin-Sze Fei emerged champions after defeating Indonesia’s Raymond Indra-Nikolaus Joaquin 13-21, 21-19, 21-10 in the final today.
Zakry Abdul Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari were the last Malaysian pair to win the men’s doubles title in the Indonesia Open in 2008.
