PUTRAJAYA, 19 Jun (Bernama) -- The Public Service Department (JPA) today announced the offering of 640 sponsorship slots for 2026 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) graduates as part of its continued commitment to developing the country’s future talent pool.
The initiative aligns with the aspirations of the MADANI Government to produce high-performing human capital capable of driving Malaysia’s progress and enhancing its global competitiveness.
In a statement today, JPA said the sponsorship opportunities comprise four programmes, namely the National Sponsorship Programme (30 slots), the Special Programme for Japan, Korea, France and Germany (140 slots), the Special Programme for Domestic SPM Graduates (200 slots), and the JPA-MARA Special Programme (PKJM), which offers 270 slots.
According to JPA, the sponsorships cover various strategic and critical fields, including engineering, science and technology, as well as the social sciences.
“Through these programmes, students will have the opportunity to pursue their studies at leading educational institutions both locally and internationally, including in the United States, Australia, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and New Zealand, in addition to higher education institutions within Malaysia,” the statement said.
JPA said candidates who had submitted applications may check their sponsorship application results online at 10 am today until 5 pm on June 22 through the department’s designated system.
All successful recipients of the 2026 SPM Graduate Sponsorship will receive funding under the Academic Merit-Based Convertible Loan (PBUA), introduced by JPA in June 2025.
The implementation of the PBUA reflects the department’s commitment to recognising academic excellence while encouraging recipients to maintain strong academic performance throughout their studies.
“With this sponsorship initiative, JPA remains committed to ensuring that outstanding Malaysian students continue to gain access to quality education at leading higher education institutions both domestically and abroad,” the department said, while extending its congratulations to successful applicants.
