Facing Spain Will Be Tough, But We Won’t Take Risks -- Georgios Donis

21/06/2026 08:46 PM

ATLANTA, June 21 (Bernama-SPA) -- Saudi national team coach Georgios Donis acknowledged the challenge awaiting his team against Spain's national football team this evening in Atlanta, describing the encounter as one of the toughest tests in the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Donis said during the pre-match press conference, "we are facing a difficult challenge against a great team that is regarded as one of the best in the world. As a coach, I generally like to take risks during matches, but I am not prepared to do so against Spain."

The Greek coach explained that the criticism directed at the players following the opening match was both normal and expected in football. He called on fans and the media to continue supporting the team.
