KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his congratulations to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and the Prosperity Party on their victory in Ethiopia's general election.
In a Facebook post, Anwar recalled his visit to Addis Ababa last year, the first such visit by a Malaysian prime minister, describing the warm welcome he received and the meaningful discussions held with Abiy.
“Prime Minister Abiy and I found that we read the world in much the same way, and that countries of the Global South stand to gain a great deal by working together as equals,” he posted.
Anwar also described Ethiopia as an important partner in Malaysia's engagement with Africa.
"There is much that we set in motion last year, and I look forward to carrying it forward together," he said.
