SHAH ALAM, June 23 (Bernama) -- Usahawan MADANI Mega (SUM MEGA) 2026 entrepreneurship seminar brought together 6,877 participants both physically and online, earning recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records for the ‘Largest Student Participation in an Entrepreneurship Seminar’.

The programme, organised by the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN) in collaboration with the Malaysian Academy of SME and Entrepreneurship Development (MASMED), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), gathered UiTM students nationwide through knowledge-sharing sessions, capacity-building initiatives, and strategic entrepreneurship networking.

Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development deputy minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin said the achievement reflects the growing interest in entrepreneurship as a viable future career path for the younger generation.

At the same time, he said entrepreneurship is not merely a career option, but has become one of the key drivers of the nation’s economic growth in an increasingly competitive economic landscape.

According to Mohamad Alamin, the MADANI government, through the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP), remains committed to strengthening an inclusive, sustainable and high-impact entrepreneurial ecosystem via initiatives in capacity building, financing, market access, digitalisation, and business development support.

“Entrepreneurs play a vital role in creating job opportunities, strengthening local supply chains, driving innovation, and contributing to the nation’s economic prosperity,” he said when attending the seminar at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor, UiTM Shah Alam, today.

Meanwhile, INSKEN Board of Trustees chairman and UiTM board member Datuk Mustaffa Kamil Ayub said the overwhelming response to SUM MEGA 2026 reflects the positive development of entrepreneurial culture among Malaysians, particularly the younger generation.

“Entrepreneurship needs to be seen not just as a career choice, but as a mindset, a culture, and a movement that can drive the country’s economic growth,” he said.

During the seminar, participants were exposed to practical sharing sessions through the MOFA approach, which emphasises marketing, operations, finance, and business administration aspects to help enhance entrepreneurs’ resilience and competitiveness.

SUM MEGA 2026 is seen as a key initiative in fostering an entrepreneurial culture among university students and graduates, to produce a new generation of entrepreneurs, innovators, job creators, and future industry leaders.

To support this agenda, INSKEN continues to implement various entrepreneurial development programmes, including the INSKEN Masterclass, BANGKIT, and PROTÉGÉ – Jaguh Keusahawanan Mahasiswa, which provide training, guidance, and business development opportunities for youth and graduates.

In addition, SUM MEGA 2026 serves as a platform to strengthen collaboration between the government, higher education institutions, industry players, financial institutions, entrepreneur development agencies, and the business community in producing more resilient, competitive, and high-impact entrepreneurs in line with the aspirations of the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030.
