China’s Global Initiatives Offer New Opportunities For Global South ​​​​​​​

BEIJING (China), June 24 (Bernama) -- China's initiatives on development, security, civilisation and governance can create new opportunities for developing countries by addressing longstanding global challenges in financing, security, connectivity and sustainable growth.

President of Belt and Road Initiative Caucus for Asia Pacific (BRICAP) Tan Sri Ong Tee Keat said the Global Development Initiative (GDI), Global Security Initiative (GSI), Global Civilisation Initiative (GCI) and the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) offer practical frameworks that align with the aspirations of the Global South.

He said the initiatives also promote a more constructive and inclusive international order amid mounting challenges facing the existing system.

He noted that many developing countries view China’s development experience as a useful reference in their efforts to achieve economic growth and shared prosperity amid growing global uncertainties.

“China’s remarkable historical trajectory from widespread poverty to economic prosperity provides an inspirational template for emerging economies striving for shared progress in an era of global economic fragmentation,” he said during his keynote address at the Fourth Forum on Developing Countries and International Law here on Wednesday.

Ong said the recently introduced GGI has further strengthened calls for a more representative and balanced international order that reflects the interests of the global majority.
