MOSCOW, June 26 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- The death toll from Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has exceeded 300, with 1,155 confirmed cases, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported, citing the DRC Ministry of Communication and Media.

"The epidemic remains active in the provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu … with 1,155 confirmed cases and 304 deaths," the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

The case fatality rate has increased by one percentage point compared to the previous bulletin, reaching 26.3 per cent.

In May, the World Health Organisation (WHO) classified the Ebola outbreak in the DRC and Uganda as an emergency posing a risk to other countries. The organisation assesses the regional risk of further spread as high.
