JOHOR BAHRU, June 29 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan will leave the appointment of the Johor Menteri Besar entirely to the wisdom and prerogative of the Sultan of Johor should the coalition succeed in forming the state government in the state election.

PH's candidate for the Puteri Wangsa state seat, Dr Maszlee Malik, said the coalition has not yet discussed the post as its main focus is to provide the best possible service to the people through teamwork.

"We did not discuss the Menteri Besar issue at all because we acknowledge that, under the State Constitution, the prerogative to appoint the Menteri Besar rests with the Palace. Ultimately, His Royal Highness will make the decision,” he said in an exclusive interview with Bernama today.

He said this when commenting on speculation circulating on social media linking him as one of the leading candidates for the post of Johor Menteri Besar from the PH bloc should the coalition win the 16th Johor state polls.

Maszlee said PH does not rely solely on the credibility of any single individual but is instead fielding a strong lineup of quality candidates across all the seats it is contesting, with the aim of serving the people.

"For us, we will try to do our very best. We have formulated the best approach and the best service, so we don't rely on any individual. We are presenting a team. If we are contesting all 56 seats, then those 56 candidates are our 'Avengers’,” he added.

Polling is on July 11, with early voting on July 7.
