Venezuela Seeks Public Donation For Recovery, Reconstruction Following Earthquake

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- In the aftermath of two devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, governments, organisations, and individuals who wish to participate in the recovery and reconstruction of the country can do so via a newly established fund to support the effort.

The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Malaysia, in a statement to Bernama on Monday, said that Andean Development Bank, also known as Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), had created the Fund for the Recovery and Reconstruction of Venezuela.

The fund is intended to “capture, mobilise, manage, and channel third-party resources to finance rapid response initiatives, stabilisation, and triage of the affected zones,” as well as rehabilitation of essential services and reconstruction in the affected areas that are prioritised by the government of Venezuela.

Contributions can be made through electronic funds transfer in US dollars or euros to CAF.

For US dollar transfers, the account name is “CORPORACIÓN ANDINA DE FOMENTO” and the account number is 6550447826, with routing/transit number for ACH debits and credits, as well as wires, 026009593, and SWIFT code: BOFAUS3N.

For euro transfers, the account name is “CORPORACIÓN ANDINA DE FOMENTO, IBAN: DE11 5004 0000 0887 7326 02” and the SWIFT code is COBADEFFXX.

The account holder address is Avenida Enrique Canaval y Moreyra No 380, Edificio Torre Siglo XXI, Piso 13, San Isidro, Lima.

CAF said contributors should include the following transfer reference when making donations: “Fondo para la Recuperación y Reconstrucción de Venezuela – name of contributor.”

Once the transfer has been made, contributors are required to send a copy of the payment receipt to alianzas@caf.com and trustfunds@caf.com, together with the contributor’s name, amount, and currency transferred, transfer date, bank used, and the contact person’s name and email address.

CAF said contributions received in euros would be converted to US dollars and credited to the fund in that currency, as the fund’s initiatives and financial reports would be conducted in US dollars.

The bank said it would confirm receipt of the contribution in writing within 10 business days after the funds are credited.
