KKB BY-ELECTION: PANG'S CAMPAIGN IN OVERDRIVE MODE

08/05/2024 05:50 PM

HULU SELANGOR, May 8 (Bernama) -- With only two days left before the Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election this Saturday, Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Pang Sock Tao has intensified her campaign efforts to gain as many votes as possible.

Pang, 31, representing the Unity Government, said she would continue to work hard and not take for granted the responsibility given by the leadership to defend the state seat.

"I am intensifying campaign activities and will meet as many voters in KKB as possible to increase my chances of winning," she said when met at a Kopitiam Talk programme here today.

The former Press Secretary to the Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming also urged voters to come out in full force to fulfill their responsibility in this by-election.

"Your votes will determine the direction of KKB's development in the future. So, it is your responsibility as voters and residents of KKB to ensure that development and well-being continue to be guaranteed under the Unity Government," she said.

Meanwhile, she denied claims that her campaign was not receiving support from PKR, as some had alleged, saying that the party leadership at both state and national levels were actively campaigning.

"This is a false allegation. (Selangor PH Chairman and Menteri Besar ) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has come to support the campaign three to four times, and yesterday I also joined a forum organised by PKR, where PKR Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar was also present,” she said.

The by-election, which sees a four-cornered contest involving Pang, Khairul Azhari Saut (Perikatan Nasional), Hafizah Zainuddin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia), and Nyau Ke Xin (Independent), was called due to the death of the incumbent, Lee Kee Hiong, 58, on March 21 from cancer.
