Nenggiri to transform within a year with BN mandate, says Ahmad Zahid

GUA MUSANG, July 29 (Bernama) -- Nenggiri will undergo a significant transformation within a year if the people give their mandate to Barisan Nasional (BN) in the by-election on Aug 17, UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

He said the Nenggiri state seat needs to return to BN, and the development of the area will be well managed if BN wins the by-election.

“Therefore, I urge the chairmen of each agency to play their roles in ensuring a victory for BN.

“Various efforts have been made by all agencies, especially KESEDAR (South Kelantan Development Authority) and FELDA, which have significantly contributed to Kelantan's development,” he said during the launching of the BN Machinery at the UMNO Gua Musang division office today.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, added that the people should be grateful to the government for its extensive support in the state's development.

He said the BN machinery needs to work hard to secure votes for BN in the by-election and ensure BN reclaims Nenggiri.

“I assure you that Nenggiri will undergo significant changes, and I will personally support BN candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani to achieve this.

“Currently, in Kelantan, we only have two representatives: Kota Lama represented by Pakatan Harapan and Galas represented by BN. Therefore, BN needs to reclaim Nenggiri,” he said.

He said it would be a loss if the people of Nenggiri do not choose BN, as it would be beneficial for their future.

On BN candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri, Ahmad Zahid said the UMNO Kelantan youth chief was chosen as he met the required criteria and was also the choice of UMNO Gua Musang division Chief Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

“Alhamdulillah, we have announced the candidate, and the election machinery has been launched. Now, the entire BN machinery needs to work hard,” he said.

Mohd Azmawi Fikri, meanwhile, thanked Ahmad Zahid and Tengku Razaleigh for their trust in him to contest the by-election.

“I am not seeking personal success; instead, I want to serve the people of Nenggiri. By Allah's will, this success is for the party and for all of us,” he said.

Also present were UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Kelantan BN chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub.

The by-election was called after the Kelantan State Assembly speaker was informed that its representative Mohd Azizi Abu Naim had ceased to be a member of Bersatu on June 13.

The Election Commission has set Aug 17 for polling, with nomination day on Aug 3 and early voting on Aug 13.
