SINGAPORE, May 14 (Bernama) -- Following World Passkey Day 2026, the FIDO Alliance announced a major milestone: an estimated 5 billion passkeys are now in use worldwide. This milestone reflects a significant shift away from passwords toward passkeys for sign-in, which is supported by new data from FIDO’s State of Passkeys 2026 report.
The report is being released ahead of Authenticate APAC 2026 on 2 - 3 June in Singapore, which will bring the industry together and address the challenges highlighted in the data. From accelerating workforce deployments to closing the gap between passkey usage and reducing reliance on passwords. For organizations still weighing the move away from passwords, Authenticate APAC 2026 offers the opportunity to hear and learn from peers who have already made the shift, and from the wider ecosystem that enables the transition from passwords to passkeys.
