HAJIJI: SABAH GOVT APPRECIATES MEDIA'S ROLE

KOTA KINABALU, May 6 (Bernama) -- The Sabah government appreciates the role and cooperation of the media especially in reporting on all the efforts the government has taken, is currently taking and will take in the state, including the Sabah Maju Jaya roadmap, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

In relation to this, he asked media practitioners in the state to continue to support and help reporting the programmes implemented by the government so that the people can know about them at the grassroots level.

He said as a sign of continued support and appreciation of the media’s contribution in Sabah, in 2022 the amount of the state government's contribution to the Kinabalu Press Awards was increased to RM100,000 from RM60,000 previously and the amount will continue for this year.

"The increase in the contribution is also the state government's recognition of the media as an important partner in spreading the state government’s policies as well as developments implemented," he said while speaking at the ‘Chief Minister's Aidilfitri 2024 Get-together with the Media’ here tonight.

Meanwhile, he said the media also played an important role in developing the people and state.

"Media reports sometimes become one of the sources of information for the government to find out what is happening at the grassroots level, apart from the people's complaints."
