KOTA BHARU, June 23 (Bernama) -- The 14th Kelantan International Kite Festival, to be held at Pantai Geting, in Tumpat, for three days from this Thursday, will involve 32 participants from 15 countries.
State Tourism, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee chairman Datuk Kamarudin Md Nor said the countries that have confirmed their participation in the event are Australia, Austria, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Poland, the United States, China, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei.
The event is also expected to be attended by 205 participants from Majlis Pelayang Malaysia, he said, adding that the festival is expected to attract 200,000 visitors.
Kamarudin said Kelantan will also host two other main events in conjunction with the 2024 Visit Kelantan Year.
They are the 50-kilometre “Gunung Tok Nenek Bubu Yong Yap Run from June 29 and 30, followed by the Kelantan International Air Sports Carnival in Kampung Gong Kubur, Pasir Puteh, from July 5 to 8.
"These events are part of the 70 annual events for the Visit Kelantan Year to achieve the target of 10 million tourist arrivals,” he said, adding that as of March, Kelantan had recorded 300,000 tourist arrivals.
