SCHOOLS IN MELAKA TO RECEIVE RM100 AS INCENTIVE TO VISIT HANG TUAH EXHIBITION

MELAKA, July 4 (Bernama) -- A special incentive of RM100 will be given to every school in the state to encourage students to visit the Hang Tuah Exhibition held at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

He said the initiative was to motivate the young generation to follow in the footsteps of Hang Tuah who had extraordinary wisdom and who had helped restore the splendor of Melaka as in the folds of the glorious history of the Malay Sultanate.

“This incentive of RM100 is given to pay the entrance fee for schools with 40 students selected to visit the Hang Tuah exhibition and learn about his wisdom.

“I hope the young generation and students can follow in the footsteps of Hang Tuah whose travels to 14 countries around the world such as Japan, Mecca, Turkey and Vatican City, Rome, is known through letters of appreciation awarded and documentation of famous characters based on research and new findings,” he said.

He said this while speaking at the Appreciation Ceremony for Outstanding Students in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), ‘Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) and ‘Bijak Sejarah SPM’ of the Melaka State Government in Bukit Katil here today.

He urged parents to bring their children to see the exhibition because the greatness of Hang Tuah has been studied by 20 researchers in 22 countries in 20 languages ​​in the world.

“I want to instill the spirit of Hang Tuah's wisdom in every Melaka citizen, especially the children who will inherit this state.

“A genius like Hang Tuah is a new-found inspiration because he discovered new things and artefacts that will straighten the winding course of history that have been distorted by the colonialists and therefore, I encourage parents, teachers and students to see new facts related to Hang Tuah (exhibition) at MITC until the end of this month," he said.

In the meantime, Ab Rauf said the state government has always prioritised education as the main agenda and committed to transforming the state into the best education hub in the country.

“We have various initiatives to raise the quality of education in this state, including allocating RM14.5 million to make education excellence a success, which is channelled through the Melaka State Education Trust Fund (Pertem).

“In fact, we also have 23 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres for students to pursue studies in a very wide scope of work,” he said.

Earlier, a total of 416 students who scored top results in the 2023 SPM and STAM examinations and 600 students who scored A+ in the 2023 SPM history subject were celebrated.

Six students who received full A+ results were also awarded a National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) worth RM1,000, cash RM200 under the Excel in History incentive, a certificate and an appreciation plaque.
