SHAH ALAM, July 5 (Bernama) -- The Selangor State Assembly has approved the appointment of 373 Village Development and Security Committee Chairmen (JPKK) or Village Heads for the new term effective July 1.
State Rural Development, Unity and Consumers Committee chairman Datuk Rizam Ismail said the appointment was coordinated by the committee, the State Economic Planning Unit and the District and Land Office.
"As has been the practice before, the appointment of community leaders is based on negotiations between leaders of the political parties in the Selangor coalition government,” he said in response to a question by Sementa Assemblywoman Noor Najhan Mohamad Salleh.
Noor Najhan wanted to know the latest status of the appointment of the JPKK chairman.
The Selangor UMNO was reported to have returned the offer of 75 village community management council or village head positions offered to the party to the state government.
