SUNGAI BULOH, July 16 (Bernama) -- Relatives of murder victim, Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, who was found dead in Hulu Selangor yesterday evening, described her as a good child who was responsible towards her family.

Her former sister-in-law, Nor Amidah Mohd Ali, 36, said that even though she completed her bachelor degree in Education (Multimedia) at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) last year, the 25-year-old did not want to return to Sarawak as she wanted to work to help her family.

"Nur Farah Kartini was the only daughter and the youngest of seven siblings, but she was very responsible. The last time she contacted me was on June 5 to tell me she lost her wallet.

“When I asked where she lost it, she didn’t reply. Although I’ve separated from her brother, my relationship with Nur Farah Kartini was still very close,” she told reporters at the Sungai Buloh Hospital’s forensics department here today, adding that she was very shocked to learn of the discovery of her former sister-in-law’s body.

Nur Farah Kartini’s brother, Mohd Farriza Azmi Abdullah said that it would be up to their mother, who is supposed to arrive from Miri, Sarawak tonight to decide if his sister will be brought back to Miri for burial.

"Her body might be buried in Kampung Lereng Bukit, Miri after the autopsy is completed, hopefully it’ll all be done by today,” he said.

Yesterday, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan announced the discovery of Nur Farah Kartini’s body at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor, five days after she was reported missing.

The police also arrested a police lance corporal, 26, stationed in Perak, who is believed to be known to the victim, yesterday to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The suspect, who has been remanded for seven days beginning today, was taken to the location of the incident this afternoon by the police, and was seen to be showing the police an area near the stream believed to be where the victim’s body was found.

Nur Farah Kartini, who worked for a car rental company in Tanjung Malim, Perak, was reported missing after she sent a car to a client on July 10.
