Lotus's Malaysia Unveils Its First Hybrid Store, Targets New Market Segments

PETALING JAYA, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- Lotus’s Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus's Malaysia) unveiled its first-ever hybrid store at Lotus’s Puchong, near here today, marking the brand’s entry into a new format aimed at business operators, food retailers, food services, HoReCa (hotels, restaurants and cafes), philanthropic organisations, and end consumers.

With the launch tagline ‘Beli Lebih Untung Lebih’, the hybrid store offers great value by providing discounts on selected items for bulk purchases.

Lotus’s Malaysia's operations executive director Neil Gurusamy said this renewed store represented a significant milestone for the brand, enabling it to target new market segments such as business operators and HoReCa while staying close to its loyal customers.

“We came out with the hybrid store because we have a lot of customers who are asking for better discounts, especially from our canteen operators, food retailers, and more. So the hybrid store is not only for HoReCa but also for our mom-and-pop store.

“Because when you (the customers) buy in bulk, it will be slightly cheaper in addition to the fact that you will get a discount,” he said when met during the launch of the hybrid store.

The 5,000-square-metre store officially opened today, offering over 13,500 product lines including 600 HoReCa-specific items such as commodities, cooking needs, fresh produce, household cleaning products, and canned food.

Alongside the spacious store layout, new fittings and equipment, and HoReCa ranges, Neil said the store also provided two dedicated payment lanes and pre-order service for bulk purchases.

“The ultimate aim of the store is to ensure that customers experience an incredible level of comfort, convenience, and value,” he said, adding that this initiative might be expanded throughout Malaysia following a thorough evaluation.

Highlights of the launch day include whole fresh chicken at RM2.99 per kilogramme (kg) (limited to the first 1,000 customers from 8 am to 10 am), grade C eggs at RM5.99 per tray (limited to 1,000 trays from 10 am to 12 noon), a 32-inch Philips television for only RM399, and various ongoing promotions until Aug 4.

Additionally, Lotus’s Puchong also offers numerous rewarding activities including free goody bags and a RM20 Lotus’s gift voucher with a minimum spending of RM50 and above, lucky draw sessions with a minimum spending of RM120, and a RM50 voucher for My Lotus’s members who spend of RM600 from today until Aug 14.

Customers and their families could also participate in the Nintendo Switch Sports competition with a minimum spending of RM30 from today until Aug 11, and enjoy the petting zoo from today to Aug 4 and Aug 10 to 11.

At today’s event, Lotus’s Malaysia also invited media representatives to join an exclusive Media Scavenger Hunt for charity, collecting over 1,300 kg of essential food items such as rice, vermicelli, biscuits, cooking oil, hot drinks, instant noodles, fresh produce, and canned foods for its #KitakanJiran contribution to the Food Aid Foundation.

The Food Aid Foundation's program and corporate social responsibility (CSR) manager Muhammad Izzul Izham Mohammad Nordin who was present at the event, said these provisions will be transformed into nutritious meals for communities in need.
