KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdel Aati has urged US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to pressure Israel to stop its brinkmanship and engage seriously in Gaza ceasefire negotiations.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry, in a statement, said Abdel Aati in a phone conversation with Blinken on Monday had told his American counterpart about the ongoing escalation in the region and ways to contain it.
He said such developments risk destabilising the security situation and potentially broadening the conflict to an unprecedented level.
During the conversation, the parties also exchanged their views on the status of the ceasefire negotiations and agreed that efforts and coordination needed to be maintained to encourage the parties involved to reach a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible.
