PEKAN, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- Deeply concerned with the plight of the family affected by the crash in which a trailer rammed into their house on Jalan Pekan-Rompin near Kampung Ketapang Hilir on Saturday, Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah will provide them with a new home.

Mohd Fakhrul Hafiz Nasruddin, 35, said that His Royal Highness personally informed him of the matter when he visited his family at about 1.30 pm. Al-Sultan Abdullah spent nearly half an hour offering his condolences and expressing sympathy for the incident.

He said the Sultan of Pahang described the incident, which occurred at about 4.15 am, as horrendous, resulting in the tragic loss of his two younger siblings.

“His Royal Highness, upon visiting the site of our house that was struck by the lorry told me that, insya-Allah, he would replace it and build a new home, in the same area, on our ancestral land.

“Al-Sultan Abdullah also advised us to pursue legal action against the lorry company involved to seek justice for our family,” he told reporters after the visit by Al-Sultan Abdullah, who was also accompanied by State Investment, Industries, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Mohd Nizar Najib.

In the incident, the driver, who was transporting plasterboard from Johor Bahru to Kuantan, is believed to have lost control on a left bend and veered into the opposite lane, crashing into a house on the right side of the road.

The accident resulted in the death of Nurnazatul Fasiha Nasruddin, 32, at the scene, while her brother Mohd Waldon Faris, 21, died at Pekan Hospital while undergoing treatment.

The victims’ parents, Norrulaini Mohd Hassan, 54, and Nasruddin Othman, 60, along with a family friend Muhammad Gabriel Miqhael Muhammad Faidzal, 19, who were in the house, sustained injuries and are being treated at Pekan Hospital.

Mohd Fakhrul Hafiz hopes that the authorities will install higher road barriers in the area to prevent similar accidents in the future.
