Rain Won’t Affect Target Of 100,000 Visitors For MADANI Rakyat Programme In Johor

JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- The unpredictable weather, with the skies opening up this afternoon, is not expected to affect the Southern Zone MADANI Rakyat 2024 Programme’s target of attracting 100,000 visitors for the three-day event.

Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) Strategic Programme and Corporate Communications Section principal assistant director Raslina Yahya said this is because most of the events and programmes will be held in covered areas.

“It may be a little inconvenient but, since many booths are giving away umbrellas, and some even hats, I think that’s a boon for visitors,” she told Bernama when met at the Economy Ministry booth.

Yesterday, the Meteorological Department of Malaysia (MetMalaysia) advised those planning to attend the programme at Dataran Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Skudai, Johor Bahru to bring along umbrellas in case it pours.

Johor MetMalaysia director Nor Adawiah Abdullah said this is because the weather forecast for today and Saturday (Aug 17) points to rain in the morning followed by thunderstorms in the afternoon.

The Southern Zone MADANI Rakyat 2024 Programme is a platform for the government to inform and highlight the achievements and benefits of the MADANI Economy to the people through various initiatives and continued commitments to empower citizens, entrepreneurs and industries.

The focus of the programme will be on the message and presentation of the MADANI Government One Year Economic Report by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the closing ceremony on Saturday.
