KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry, through its embassy in Moscow, is closely monitoring the recent drone attacks in Moscow and developments in the Kursk region.

“We continue to assess the situation on the ground to ensure the safety of Malaysians,” it said in a statement on Thursday.

The Foreign Ministry advised Malaysians residing in or visiting the affected areas to remain vigilant and follow all safety guidelines issued by local authorities.

“Stay informed through reliable news sources and maintain communication with the Embassy of Malaysia in Moscow,” read the statement.

The ministry assured that the safety and well-being of all Malaysians in Moscow and the surrounding regions remain a top priority and it will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary.

Malaysians in Moscow and the Kursk region are urged to register their presence via https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my or with the nearest Malaysian diplomatic mission.

This registration is crucial for receiving timely information and assistance if needed, added the statement.

In case of emergency or for additional support, Malaysians are encouraged to contact the embassy directly at Mosfilmovskaya Ulitsa 50, 115127, Moscow, Russia, or via the phone numbers +7 495 419 9898 / 99 or +7 906 746 1333 (Emergencies), and email address mwmoscow@kln.gov.my.

International media reported that Moscow experienced one of the largest drone attacks since the beginning of the conflict with Ukraine.

On Aug 21, Ukrainian forces launched a drone offensive, targeting multiple sites across Russia, including Moscow.
