Fahmi To Brief King On National Day Preparations Tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil will have an audience with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, at Istana Negara tomorrow to present a briefing on the preparations for the 2024 National Day celebration this Saturday.

Fahmi,  who is also National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2024 Celebration Main Committee chairman, said he would be accompanied by Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa during the audience.

He said they would inform the King not only about the overall arrangement for the celebration, but also about public transport services to be provided to the public attending the event in Putrajaya, including the free water taxi, cruise boat and shuttle bus rides.

“This will enable the public to park their cars at the designated parking areas, which I was made to understand can accommodate approximately 7,000 vehicles.

“So, we do hope the public can plan their trip to Putrajaya for the National Day celebration this Saturday,” he said after attending the Pentarama X Kelab Malaysiaku programme in conjunction with the 2024 National Month celebration at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Pantai, here today.

In a similar development, Fahmi also encouraged the public who saw Jalur Gemilang on the ground or on the floor to pick it up and move it to a place deemed more appropriate for a national flag.

“As Malaysian citizens, if we see our flag on the floor or being left in an inappropriate place, it is only right that we pick it up and remove it.

“We should not only be proud of our country’s flag, but should also be willing to do our part to ensure that our Jalur Gemilang is always treated with respect,” he said.

On the Pentarama X Kelab Malaysiaku programme, Fahmi said it was a programme initiated by the Department of Information (JaPen) to boost the spirit of love for the country among students.

He said the programme was also expected to be expanded to other schools in conjunction with this year's National Month.
