SAS 2024 Hits RM1.3 Billion Potential Transaction Target

SHAH ALAM, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Aviation Show (SAS 2024), which commenced today, has achieved the RM1.3 billion potential transaction value target set by the Selangor government, said State Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han.

He said that the notable success was achieved through the signing of 12 business documents, such as memoranda of understanding (MoU), memoranda of cooperation (MoC), letters of intent (LoIs), and offtake agreements involving several companies.

 Ng said the signed documents included an MoU for expanding maintenance, repair, and  overhaul centre (MROC) facilities at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, and for developing Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO) software.

“For SAS 2024, the Selangor government set this target, which we have successfully achieved today through the signing of 12 business documents.

“With this potential transaction value, I am confident that we will be able to surpass it, as about 30 additional MoUs are set to be signed throughout SAS 2024,” he told reporters after the SAS 2024 opening ceremony at the Skypark Regional Aviation Centre here today.

The event was officiated by the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Invest Selangor Berhad chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari were in attendance.

Elaborating, the signing involved several companies, including Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, Global Turbine Asia (GTA), Qube Nexus, Vencast, Batik Air, Global Systemes Asia (GSA) and Safe Connect. 

In a prior statement, Invest Selangor Berhad announced its target of achieving a potential transaction value of RM1.3 billion during the three-day SAS 2024, which ends this Sunday.

In the meantime, Ng said that on the first day of SAS 2024, over 40,000 visitors had registered, and more than 30,000 people had signed up to attend the event, which is open to the public tomorrow.

“This year, we are organising more events to attract young people, including a career carnival focused on aviation and aerospace, featuring over 40 companies and 2,000 job opportunities for qualified candidate,” he said.

Meanwhile, Amirudin in his speech, said Selangor has set it sights on making SAS as the top Air Show in Southeast Asia and one of Asia’s best by 2030.

He also shared his vision for Selangor to be at the forefront of the development and exportation of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) based on feedstock and Used Cooking Oil (UCO), as fuel represents 30 per cent of airlines’ operating costs, positioning the state as the pioneer towards a greener and sustainable aviation industry. 

“Not to forget the evolving sector of drones, UAV and also element of space and helicopters across the ASEAN region.

“In recent years, we have witnessed a surge in the adoption of these technologies, driven by innovation and the increasing demand for efficient and sustainable solutions in industries like logistics, smart agriculture, surveillance, energy, and even passenger transport.

“As Malaysia prepares to chair ASEAN next year, we have a unique opportunity to position ourselves as a leading platform for businesses to meet, collaborate, exchange ideas, and expand networks,” he said.
