Meaningful Programmes, Colourful Processions Enliven 2024 Maulidur Rasul Celebrations

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 (Bernama) -- Muslims across the country celebrated Maulidur Rasul 2024/1446H with various meaningful programmes and colourful processions by numerous contingents from all walks of life to show love for Prophet Muhammad SAW.

In PUTRAJAYA, the national-level celebration themed ‘Al-Falah Pemacu Malaysia MADANI,’ was held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, and graced by the presence of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the King and Queen of Malaysia.

The event was also attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and approximately 6,000 people.

In JOHOR, Regent of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail lead the state-level Maulidur Rasul procession in Kota Tinggi, accompanied by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and State Islamic Religious Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid.

Over 8,000 Muslims from 50 contingents from public and private sectors, as well as non-governmental organisations and local communities, joined in the 1.3-kilometre procession which began at 7.30 am from Padang Awam Bukit Kerajaan Kota Tinggi to Masjid Bandar Kota Tinggi.

In SELANGOR, the state-level celebration at the Dewan Syarahan dan Muzakarah Islam of the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque here began when the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah arrived at 10 am, accompanied by Menteri Besar Selangor Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The event, attended by about 600 people, was filled with prayers and selawat (praising chant for Prophet Muhammad) led by the mosque’s Marhaban group, as well as special Maulidur Rasul lecture by Ustaz Firdaus Subhi. 

In PAHANG, Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah graced the state-level celebration held at the Dewan Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Kuantan.

Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed on arrival by Menteri Besar Dato’ Sri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and state executive councillors.

Approximately 3,000 people enlivened the celebration in the state.

In PERAK, Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim graced the state-level Maulidur Rasul celebration at the Casuarina Convention Centre in Ipoh.

Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and state Cabinet members.

Themed ‘Mendepani Cabaran Merealisasikan Wawasan’, the event was also filled with meaningful religious programmes, including recitation of the Quran, selawat and zikr, as well as silat performances.

Sultan Nazrin also presented several awards, including the Zaid bin Thabit Award (Media Practitioner Icon) to Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute (IPPTAR) director-general, Roslan Ariffin.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN, Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir and Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud joined in the procession at the Seremban City Council field.

Their sons, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz and Tunku Zain Al-'Abidin were also in attendance.

Some 5,000 people including civil servants, students and Orang Asli, who made up 71 contingents, participated in the 2.7km procession.

Meanwhile in MELAKA, Governor Tun Dr Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh also joined the procession mounted by 6,234  participants from 121 contingents to enliven the state-level Maulidur Rasul celebration.

The procession began at the Tun Fatimah Stadium in Bukit Serindit and ended at the Dataran Pusat Islam Melaka, Bukit Palah.

In SABAH, Governor Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and his wife, Toh Puan Norlidah R.M Jasni, led hundreds of participants in the 1.9km procession from Kota Kinabalu Community Hall to Sabah International Convention Centre.

Also present were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

In PENANG, former two-term Permatang Pasir assemblyman Datuk Mohd Salleh Man, 70, was named as the recipient of the state-level Tokoh Maulidur Rasul award.

The celebration in the state also saw 43 contingents participate in the procession led by Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Mohamad Abdul Hamid.

In KEDAH, Raja Muda Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Sultan Sallehuddin represented the Sultan in gracing the celebration at Dewan Seri Negeri, Wisma Darul Aman in Alor Setar, while in TERENGGANU, the state-level celebration was graced by the Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin and Sultanah Nur Zahirah.

In KELANTAN, even though no celebration was held, Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud in his message, said the Kelantan government is optimistic enough to develop the state with principles and approaches based on Islam.

He said the teachings brought by the Prophet Muhammad SAW also provide comprehensive and holistic guidance to achieve prosperity and happiness in life.
