SEPANG, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Aviation Decarbonisation Blueprint (MADB) will continue to play a key role in guiding the aviation industry towards a greener future, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

He noted that the blueprint is aimed at encouraging all key players, including airlines and ground handlers, to adopt more sustainable practices in their operations.

Loke said the blueprint outlines steps for reducing the environmental impact of aviation and supports the industry’s transition to cleaner technologies.

“I think this is a very important policy framework to encourage our aviation industry, especially airlines, ground handlers and all the relevant parties in the sector to adopt green transition.

“We will facilitate in operations because what we want to see is that the industry as a whole can firstly reduce costs, operational more efficient and more importantly is that it supports the environmental friendly policies which the government is undertaking,” he told reporters after the launch of the 20 electric vehicle (EV) baggage tractors at the Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) MRO Hangar, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, today.

Additionally, Loke said the blueprint remains central to Malaysia’s efforts to promote environmentally responsible operations across the aviation sector.

On Sept 5, The Transport Ministry launched the MADB to accelerate commitment towards net zero carbon emissions by 2050 for the aviation sector.

MADB will serve as a reference for aviation stakeholders in Malaysia to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
