Pahang Sultan Calls For R&R Facilities On LTU Highway For User Comfort

KUANTAN, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has urged the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Works and the Economy Ministry, to reconsider the construction of Rest and Service Areas (R&R ) along the Lingkaran Tengah Utama (LTU) Expressway, formerly known as Central Spine Road.

His Royal Highness said R&R facilities are crucial for ensuring the comfort and convenience of road users, while also addressing issues like littering and roadside sanitation due to the lack of restroom facilities.

“The decision not to implement one of the key components of the highway project could complicate efforts to address several related issues, including the basic needs of the public using the highway,” His Royal Highness said on the Pahang Royal Household’s official Facebook page.

Al-Sultan Abdullah expressed hope that the relevant parties would give due consideration to continuing the construction of the infrastructure for the benefit of the public, especially during festive seasons and school holidays.

The Pahang government had previously submitted a request for an R&R facility to be built on the LTU (within the Bentong district) to provide convenience to road users.

However, the project was shelved due to construction costs doubling from the initial estimate, despite the R&R being part of the project scope, with only the platform and basic infrastructure completed.

Yesterday, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail urged Pahang MPs to raise the issue during the upcoming Dewan Rakyat session.
