Budget 2025: Empower Human Capital Of Orang Asli Through TVET

GUA MUSANG, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- The Orang Asli in Kelantan hope that Budget 2025 will prioritise human resource development within their community, with a particular focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Penghulu of Kampung Lambok, in the Kuala Betis Resettlement Plan Plan (RPS), Andi Angah, 44, said the empowerment of the Orang Asli through TVET is important to ensure the community, especially the young generation, can progress in line with the current technological development and modernisation in the country.

"I hope the government can provide more motivational and skills education programmes for the young generation of the Orang Asli to improve their quality of life.

"The Orang Asli parents also need to be made aware of the importance of knowledge so that they can encourage their children to study," he told Bernama recently.

Nari Abus, 48, from Pos Bihai, who concurred with Andi’s view, said that through TVET, Orang Asli children have the opportunity to obtain skill-based jobs or work on their own to generate income.

"Many Orang Asli women are eager to learn skills such as grooming, hairdressing, make-up, and cooking, while the men are interested in motorcycle and car repair.

"By equipping them with these skills, they can work within their village and won’t need to migrate elsewhere," he said.

Norasyikin Uda, 46, from the Temiar tribe, said that skills education programmes are suitable to be given to the younger generation so that they can use their skills to work and not just sit idle in the village. 

"They remain in the village due to their lack of confidence to go out to seek a job. They feel more comfortable in the village and do odd jobs," he said.

The 2025 budget with the theme " "Ekonomi MADANI, Negara Makmur, Rakyat Sejahtera"  will be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament on Oct 18.
