SOCSO Records 575,044 Active Job Seekers On MYFutureJobs Until Sept 2024

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 21 (Bernama) —  The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO)  recorded 575,044 active job seekers on the MYFutureJobs portal for the period between January and Sept 27 this year, according to the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA).

In a statement issued today, Kesuma said the number exceeds the vacancies available, which was 125,956.

It said five programmes have been introduced to address the challenge of underemployment, especially among new graduates and locals.

They are training programmes under the Employment Insurance System, Future Workers Training (FWT) Scheme, Industry 4.0 Focused Courses, Strategic Cooperation and Technology Centre programs and Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK) funding for skills trainees,

"Kesuma is committed to ensuring that local graduates and workers can face future economic challenges with the skills needed especially in the fast-growing technology and industry 4.0 sectors," read the statement.

Under the Employment Insurance System, Kesuma said it provides opportunities for job seekers to improve their skills through digital and security training, while the FWT programme, has benefitted 1,617 graduates and unemployed individuals who received training in critical skills such as adapting the needs of the employer.

According to Kesuma, a total of 17,899 participants have been trained under the Industry 4.0 Focused Course, carried out under the supervision of HRD Corp which aims to equip the workforce with the skills needed for the present and the future.

The Strategic Cooperation and Technology Center programme focuses on collaboration with the industry in the development of new technology, including in the semiconductor industry at the Taiping High Technology Training Center (ADTEC) and PROTON's advanced automotive technology institute at ADTEC Melaka.
